Glossary
The words this guide uses, in the sense it uses them.
| Term | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Base and quote | The two tokens of a pair. In CBTC/CC, CBTC is the base and CC is the quote. Amounts are in the base, prices in quote per one unit of base. |
| Bid and ask | A bid is an order to buy, an ask an order to sell. The highest bid and the lowest ask are the top of the book. |
| Calden | The wallet Cardiv works with. It keeps your keys, shows your balances, and is where you approve and sign every transaction. |
| Canton Coin (CC) | The Canton Network's own token. It trades against CBTC, and Cardiv's fees are charged in it. |
| Fee | What Cardiv charges to place or cancel an order, in CC, shown on the approval screen before you sign. See Fees. |
| Limit order | An order at a price you name. It rests in the book until it trades or you cancel it, and for at most 7 days. |
| Lock | The hold placed on your offered amount while your order is live. The tokens stay in your wallet; you just cannot spend them elsewhere. |
| Maker and taker | The maker's order was already resting; the taker's order arrived and traded against it. The maker's price is the price of the trade. |
| Market order | An order with no price, which takes the best resting orders until it is filled or the book runs out. |
| Order id | The identifier of your order, stable from placement to its end, including through partial fills. Quote it in support messages. |
| Partial fill | A trade for less than the whole order. The traded part settles at once; the rest keeps resting under the same order id. |
| Party ID | Your identity on the Canton Network and your receiving address, starting with Calden::. Also called a party. |
| Preapproval | Permission you give once, per token, for that token to be delivered into your wallet without you approving each arrival. See Enable preapprovals. |
| Spread | The gap between the best bid and the best ask. |
| Stop-loss | A sell order that stays out of the book until the price reaches a stop price you set, then sells. |
| Transaction id | The update id of a transaction on the Canton Network. It lets you verify what happened independently of Cardiv. |
