Getting started

Enable preapprovals

What a preapproval is, which ones you need, and how to turn them on in Calden.

A missing preapproval is the most common reason an order is refused.

A transfer preapproval is permission you give once, per token, for that token to be delivered into your wallet without you approving each arrival.

Cardiv needs it because a trade delivers the counterparty's asset straight into your wallet, in the same transaction that takes yours. If your wallet would refuse that delivery the trade cannot complete, so Cardiv checks the preapproval for the asset your order will receive before it accepts your order.

Which tokens you need

You need a preapproval for every token you can receive, which means both tokens of every pair you trade.

PairPreapprovals you need
CBTC/CCCBTC and CC
CBTC/cETHCBTC and cETH
CBTC/USDCx (devnet only)CBTC and USDCx

How to turn one on

Open the Calden dashboard and find the Transfer Pre-Approval panel. Pick the token from the selector beside it, then approve. The same panel shows the current state for each token, so it is also where you check.

Calden turns preapprovals on for you at the end of onboarding, but the step can fail for a token, most often after a network failure.

What Cardiv shows when one is missing

An order that would receive a token you cannot yet accept is refused with this message:

Transfer preapproval is required before placing orders. Please enable it from Calden.

Turn on the token named by the pair you were trading, then place the order again.

What happens to your funds

Turning on a preapproval moves nothing and locks nothing. It changes only what your wallet is willing to accept.
